Title:
Sonata in G Major, Op. 14, No. 2 Movement I Allegro

Examples:
*Make sure to include opus number, key, and movement*

Paragraphs:
Rock, Paper, Scissors is a game of violence- each movement triumphs against the next, while also being beaten by the other. Using this idea, we interpret “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Love” a few different ways. The piece might represent how love is all we can turn to after brutal confrontation (“Rock, paper, scissors…love”). Or perhaps it demonstrates that, where vicious cycles of violence take the lives of myriad innocent people, love is the only way to find peace. In either case, this piece is about the importance of loving. Love bridges cultural differences and transcends ill intent. The Daniel Pearl World Music Days Concerts center around this same message of love, pushing for peace between all peoples. Because of its powerful call for compassion, “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Love” exemplifies Daniel Pearl’s legacy of “Harmony for Humanity.”

The good in the world is often covered by the darkness that shouts above it. Most of the news today is about murders, deaths, and fraud. It seems as if the goodness in the world is overlooked. This is the case with Chopin’s “Winter Wind” etude. In this etude, there is an elaborate right hand which can often distract an audience member from the beautiful melody in the left hand. In the case of Daniel Pearl, the good to follow after the tragedy can be overlooked, just like the left hand in “Winter Wind.” From the misfortune of Daniel Pearl emerged a passion for music that spread to thousands, if not millions of people around the world. Through this piece, the beauty and simplicity of the left hand resemble the goodness that Daniel Pearl brought to the world.
