Dear members of MTAC West LA :
Please be advised of the July 10th date extension for applications to the 2020 Alice Kitchen Memorial scholarship competition.
In order to comply with social distancing and for the safety of all concerned, we are switching to a video format (details of the submission will follow). Before going into details below, we hope you will look at this event in a new light; as an opportunity to keep your students engaged and making music during the summer months of continued home isolation.
By moving our entry deadline of submissions to July 10, teachers and students will have more time for preparation of repertoire. We know that many of your teaching schedules have been rearranged during this time and it’s taking us all a little bit of time to get readjusted. Please note that the fees will remain as already posted on the website. Directions for application will shortly appear on the website as well. In lieu of a live, in person, winners concert, we will plan a virtual recital on Zoom or similar format which will be announced. Performances of pre-recorded videos will be presented in such a way that all members can view together with a true recital feeling.
We hope that this will encourage many more participants of all levels to apply, . We also propose that the Winners concert will take place in a virtual format on Sunday, July 19 and the exact time will be announced.
