Students who submit their online application late or who submit their entry fee and proof-of-age document late will be assessed a $25 late fee through May 1, 2010.  NO APPLICATION MATERIALS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER MAY 1, 2010.  Students who fail to meet this late deadline will be automatically withdrawn from the competition on May 2, 2010.  Students will not be assigned an audition time until their entry fee and proof-of-age document are received.

Each entrant must present a recital program of three works (single movements of longer works are acceptable) from three different historical periods: Medieval/Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, Contemporary.

The Scholarship Competition Committee will review each proposed program.  If it is determined that the repertoire proposed does not meet competition standards, the teacher will be notified immediately.  If there is any question concerning the appropriateness of a student's proposed program, the teacher should contact the chair before submitting an application.

All music must be memorized, and students must bring one original score for each of their pieces (no unpermitted photocopies) to the competition.  Students who do not have their pieces memorized, or who do not bring one original score for each of their pieces, or who bring an unpermitted photocopy or photocopies to the competition will be immediately disqualified and not permitted to play for the judges.  In the case of out-of-print works or works downloaded from an online source, photocopies will be permitted with the appropriate license from the publishing company, but they must be cleared with the Scholarship Competition Chair prior to the audition date; the use of any photocopied material without prior consent from the Scholarship Competition Chair is not allowed, and the student will be immediately disqualified and not permitted to play for the judges.

Previous 1st-place winners of a category may not enter that category or any lower category.  However, they may enter a higher category.

The decisions of the judges are final.  Judges are not obligated to select a winner in each category.  Any teacher who at any time contacts a judge regarding this competition and/or its results will have ALL of his/her students disqualified from this competition and will be ineligible for all MTAC-WLA competitions for one year.  Any parent who at any time contacts a judge regarding this competition and/or its results will have his/her child disqualified from this competition and will be ineligible for all MTAC-WLA competitions for one year.
